If you missed the January 21, 2017 opening of "Kama'aina Soul - Anthology", here is a little taste of what you missed.

Daniel Finchum's initial catalog of 244 images presented at his first solo wet plate collodion photography exhibit on Kauai, January 21, 2017.  Enjoy.

A short documentary on Kauai-based artist Daniel Finchum and a behind-the-scenes look at his Wet Plate Photography method. Video and Editing by Wendy Vilaro.

View Daniel Finchum's process from inspiration to creation. Daniel Finchum’s natural sculptures, which he refers to as “land art,” were painstakingly crafted and inspired by Kauai’s breathtaking vistas. In the rainforests and riverbeds, ocean shores and mountain tops, Finchum found inspiration for his art and the natural elements to design and sculpt them with. He then skillfully photographed these unforgettable pieces of art and carefully disassembled them, taking only their images with him.

This video was done in 2013 when I first discovered the art of rock balancing. This discovery was such a thrill for me that it has become a consuming passion. I have always had a love for art, but this was different. It was the first thing I had ever done in my life where I would completely lose track of time. I have since crossed over into other elements in nature (in addition to rocks) and this discovery opened a floodgate of creativity that had been pent up for a long time.
